The Ruy Lopez Opening (or Spanish Opening) is a very old and popular chess opening and often played in chess tournaments and world championships.

The moves of the Spanish Opening are:

Worrall Attack
White plays 6.Qe2 and not the usual 6.Re1 to support the e-pawn with the queen. The rook will move to d1 to support the advance of the d-pawn.

Open Defence
A solid defence played in world championships. Black captures the e-pawn. White will lose time to regain the pawn.
