Queens Gambit Declined – ExpertChessStrategies.com II

In the Queens Gambit Declined Black does not capture the Gambit pawn at c4 but protects his d-pawn playing e6 and continues his development. Black would not be able to hold on to the gambit pawn anyway.

This is a very old and solid opening. Black might get a cramped positon but can free it using the pawn breaks c5 or e5.
